Healthy Lifestyle Holiday Guide

Now that my kids have entered the second decade of their lives gone are the days of frantic toy shopping after (or on!) Thanksgiving. This year I get to relish in the relative calm of my laptop while I scoop up some fantastic deals on healthy lifestyle products for myself and my loved ones.

I’ve been doing a little bit of research in preparation this year, and here’s a sneak peek of what I’ve found so far. Be sure to bookmark this page as I’ll add more to it in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

All-Clad ® Stainless Steel Large Roaster with Rack - We’re in desperate need of a new, safer roasting pan. The one we have has chipping Teflon (PFOA, suspected carcinogen) and it’s about time we trade it out for a new one. Fortunately, I don’t have to wait on this sale. It can be ordered now at half price - Special $129.99 sugg. $260.00 - just in time for the holidays!

NutriBullet - I’ve been at Vitamix fanatic for the better part of the past five years, but I have to say, my morning smoothies are now easier than ever with the NutriBullet. Clean up is a breeze since I don’t have to go through the extra (loud) step of running it through the machine’s rinse cycle. Instead I can just pop it in the dishwasher! I snatched mine up at Costco over the summer, but Kohl’s is offering rotating deals this holiday season.

Big Life Journal - I purchased the original version last year for my then 10-year old and I’m excited to get the teen version this Christmas. It has been such a thought-provoking book to go through together, and I just know he’ll enjoy this more age-appropriate edition. Who doesn’t want their teen to develop a mindset of growth, resilience, gratitude, positivity, and confidence?!

Alo Yoga: This is one of my favorite yoga brands. They’re 100% sweatshop free, and they’ve worked hard to earn a globally-accredited platinum certification from WRAP, the largest independent watchdog organization, which verifies that their factories and offices operate in the most ethical and humane ways

Yoga Swing - I got one of these for Christmas last year and don’t go more than a few days without hanging upside down in it. It really is incredible how just a few minutes can make such a significant difference in my alignment (and therefore any pain)! You can try it free for 30 days for $1 + shipping, approx. $20. I have mine hanging from the ceiling now, but it was really easy to attach it to my son’s pull up bar (pictured below) when I first received it.

Christmas Day, 2017

Uncommon Goods - I have a full cart of Christmas gifts ready to go here! This website is too much fun. From their website: “We offer remarkable designs by independent makers, and our goal is to do it with a positive impact on both people and our planet.” I could literally browse this site for hours!

National Geographic Store - I’ve always found unique holiday gifts from National Geographic. I’m definitely planning a stop here along my online shopping trips over the next few weeks.

Beautycounter - Did you know that we absorb as much as 60% of what is applied to our skin? (Why do you think pharmaceuticals often create medicine patches?) Some skincare ingredients can be good, but many can be harmful. Beautycounter has a rigorous screening process for all ingredients; most products rate a 1 or 2 with the Environmental Working Group's EWG Skindeep database.

They have an unprecedented "Never List" of over 1,500 questionable or harmful chemicals that they will never use in their products. Beautycounter's color cosmetics are also batch tested for heavy metals three times before they become available. You can read more about why I choose Beautycounter for myself and my family here.

Check out their luxurious holiday gift sets and be sure to snatch them up while supplies last. They tend to sell out FAST!
*Disclosure - I am a consultant for Beautycounter

Branch Basics - This has been my go-to whole house cleaner for years! We love this hard-working, hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, gluten-free, tree nut and peanut-free, plant and mineral-based cleaning product!

Intellibed - After our major mold remediation several years ago, we had to replace all our soft furnishings. Mattresses can easily become magnets for mold spores. Given that we spend 8-10 hours lying on our beds each day, it was important to replace those as soon as possible. Conventional mattresses however, with their flame-retardant regulations, can expose us to harmful toxins for those same 8-10 hours! There are many ways to go about making a mattress less likely to catch fire. One of them; and the most popular, is a concoction of extremely toxic chemicals like boric acid (used to kill cockroaches), antimony (more toxic than mercury) and formaldehyde (a cancer-causing agent). I won’t get into the list of health-related risks associated with these toxins, but believe me, the list is long!

Enter Intellibed. After much research, we decided to purchase from this company and haven’t looked back. The safety and structural support from our mattresses allows us the opportunity for uninterrupted, restful sllep each and every night.

Use my special code ZENSLEEP to receive these incredible deals:
* 10% OFF a King or Queen Intellibed Organix mattress (Minimum value $450)
* FREE 5-Sided Luxury Omniguard Mattress Protector (Minimum value $99.99)
* FREE Full-Service Delivery (Value $296)
* 2 FREE Gelled Microfiber Pillows (Value $103.98)

Plant Therapy - I enjoy using essential oils when I think about it, but I admittedly haven’t researched them heavily. Most of my oils were purchased from Mountain Rose Herbs. Their prices are good and I trust the brand. However, I’ve been eyeing this 7 & 7 Set from Plant Therapy. You really can’t beat $4/bottle for organic essential oils!

High Tech Health - I bought an infrared sauna for myself about 3 years ago, while in the midst of debilitating mold illness. Very thorough research landed me with a poplar sauna proven to have the lowest total EMF in the industry. If you’re considering the purchase of a sauna I cannot recommend High Tech Health enough. Mention Carrie Eckert from Avocado to Zen to save $500!

Free Your Mind Online - My popular comprehensive mind-body healing program is NEW FOR 2019!! You can get in on all the updates and enhancements to the program at this very affordable price. This online program will be offered as a gift set, complete with a journal, pen and brochure now through Christmas. Do you have a loved one struggling with “mystery illness” or can you use this “gift” yourself? Find out all about the program here
